We are thrilled with the results! Ern and his team renovated our bedroom and the space was designed perfectly for our needs, and easily flows with the rest of our home. Ern and his team also replaced the trim throughout our entire home - it looks wonderful.

Our renovation was, in a word, extensive. It included a great deal of unforeseen Structural and Electrical work, and covered pretty much every room in the house. We accomplished almost everything we wanted to have done, and far more in most cases. Due to time and financial constraints weren't able to do everything that we wanted to do initially, but we continue to get Ern and his team to help us continue the work.

EWCD remodeled our Basement, including Games Rooms, Bathroom and Hallway. Our priorities were to open up space and improve the layout so it did not look like a below ground basement, while finishing it with the original design feel of the house. The space is now utilized every day, and is a pleasure in which to entertain. The design has been well integrated into the feel of the house.



EWCD was recommended by friends who had done similar work. After meeting Ern, we liked his easy-going manner, his willingness to work with our ideas, and his attention to detail. EWCD has a very professional staff, who are friendly with a good sense of humour. During the renovation, we were in daily communication at the start and finish of each day. Ern always returned messages on his cell with a fast turnaround time.



The most challenging part of the renovation for us was deciding on how to proceed with flooring given drain and concrete slope issues. Lots of time was spent debating alternatives, and looking at the least cost solution. Overall, issues were dealt with calmly and reasonably, with solutions developed in consultation with us, looking at design objectives and cost implications.



We were impressed by Erns ability to see the finished product and explain the pros/cons of choices as design proceeded. Also, disruption in the house during the work was minimal. We were impressed with attention paid to controlling dust, keeping main floors clean and keeping construction material restricted to work area. The site was cleaned thoroughly after each day so as not to impact the main floor of our house. Finished flooring was covered to avoid damage during final construction.



EWCD provided excellent quality of work. There was great attention to detail from woodwork to drywall to tile grouting. We would definitely use EWCD in the future for both big or small jobs.

EWCD finished our Basement, which included a 3-piece Bathroom, Home Theatre area and Exercise Room. Our priorities were to make good use of existing space, have a space where teenagers could relax and not worry about messes, and provide space for a home theatre.

I was impressed by many things about EWCD, some of which included: the knowledgeable staff, quality and accuracy of the workmanship, cost, and completion in a timely manner. The staff were extremely professional, and they were easy to contact.



There were almost no issues with the renovation, but when something small arose, they addressed it quickly and efficiently. The most challenging part of our renovation was having them work on the washrooms while they were still in use. Ernst Wallner's contracting team did a beautiful job on our home's basement renovation. EWCD was able to preserve the historical feel of our 80+ year old home, while meeting our design and functional needs. The team was always on time and cleaned up nicely after their work. EWCD was involved in remodeling our Kitchen, our Dining Room, and an Upstairs Laundry. A wet bar was added to the kitchen as well. The extensive kitchen remodeling also involved removing a supporting wall and replacing it with the necessary beam and supports. The result was seamless. For the most part, the kitchen and dining room had to be stripped down to the studs. The ceiling drywall was removed. EWCD coordinated the extensive electrical. All cabinets were replaced. EWCD also did the drywall, plumbing and installation of appliances. In the end, the finished result was exceptional. It was completed on time and within budget, and the workmanship met or exceeded our expectations.



The window for renovation was tight. The bulk of this project was completed in one month allowing us to move into our newly purchased home on schedule. EWCD met the start time and hit all major milestones throughout the project, which was critical for completing the project as scheduled. It also allowed the other trades (carpeting, painting, hardwood, etc) to complete their jobs when required. In addition, Ern Wallner also kept a keen eye on the aforementioned trades that we had hired and was able to get them to redo poor workmanship.



There were not any significant unforeseen issues arising, but all smaller issues were with dealt with professionally and quickly to my complete approval. There were no surprises at any point.



Despite the inherent stress of a renovation, the EWCD crew was a pleasure to have in our home. Ern was a pleasure to work with, clear, considerate, calm and came up with many additional renovation tips and suggestions. His input made the project even better. We need to stress that he was a tremendous resource and pleasure to work with.



We have used EWCD since and would strongly recommend them to others.
